Ever thought of getting into tournament paintball? A lot of newer players to the tournament scene are probably bewildered by the politics, behaviours and confusing signs sometimes thrown up by tournament Paintball. Well newcomer, everything is going to be OK. You do have some basic decisions to make, but we’re here to help. The first thing you should be deciding is which Bangor team to play with. Since Bangor tournament paintball hasn’t fragmented into an individual sport yet, you will need teammates to compete. You will also need Bangor players who have more experience around to consult, unless you want to reinvent the wheel. For a completely new player, you may need to simply get on whichever Bangor team will have you. It may seem harsh but we need to concern ourselves with the real world of paintball and not some idealistic picture painted by somebody just coming into the sport. A lot of new Bangor players suffer from the illusion that they are an asset to their team as soon as they decide to play tournaments, and if you have a good credit rating and your own car, that might even be true. The most frequent reality is that you will be doing good things on the field partly by happy accident. So listen to your elders, unless you consistently shoot them out, and ask a lot of questions. Don’t just ask the captain questions, ask your Bangor teammates as well. The captain might have other issues to deal with besides his new protégé, although you are probably his newest problem. Basically, you are looking for a team around Bangor that is willing to train you. The more natural talent you exhibit, the more chance you have of maintaining your place. Try not to let defeats experienced by the team pull you down because we have learned if you maintain you desire and drive to improve, then you will be successful.
