How cool would it be to be paid to play paintball in Faversham? Not just a quid here or there, but to actually get paid an annual salary? Ok, so you have to live in sunny Moscow which is a ittle way away from paintballing in Faversham, but asides from that you get to live in a rent-free apartment (wish conveniently happens to be a stone’s throw away from a law and economics university, which seems to produce an endless supply of girls night after night): you get to play paintball a minimum of five days a week (seven if you really want to): you get to train with arguably the best paintball team in the world; and last but not least you get to travel all over America playing against some of the best teams in the world which are a little better than the paintballers in Faversham. What’s not to like? Well, after the infamous Foreign Legion ’04 left Mother Russia after just one year, something would suggest that being paid to play is not all it’s cracked up to be. After all, these players didn’t leave and go get paid to play for other teams. Sure they are playing for other top-level teams, but they’re not actually being paid a wage week out to play the sport. They still have to work to make ends meet. So what are the drawbacks of being a true professional paintballers? As part of the new wave of foreign players none of which were from Favershamsthat went over to train with the Russian Legion in 2005 I began to see why the aforementioned FL’04 were not so keen to return. A typical weekday would involve getting up at around 9am. Have some breakfast, head down to the field and start fitness training at 10am, which would go on for a hour. Then 3 hours of gun training, you may want to go see sights moscos not Favershasm paintball, after that but you will find yourself too tired to do anything.
