Ever wanted to try and become pro? If you ever get to the top level from playing in Finmere and have to train with the Russian Legion it would be hard. Saturdays start at 10am and consist of an hour of fitness training followed by one X-Ball match. Sundays start around 10.30am and are made up of 20-30 minutes of fitness followed by two back-to-back X-Ball matches. Now if either of those days ended there that would be great. However, if you were among the unlucky few that had to stay behind for three hours of extra practice, that was where the nightmare would begin. For anyone who’s ever played X-Ball you can appreciate how tiring a match is, let alone doing an hour of fitness beforehand. To then have to do an extra two and half to three hours after that left you all but dead far from the paintballing in Finmere. The potential for burnout exists with such an intense paintball training schedule, but even though your body aches and you are physically exhausted, you are playing paintball and you love playing paintball, right? Well, not for long. The only thing that will get you out of practice in Moscow is injury or illness and burnout doesn’t fall under either category. So play on and play through it you must. Which – trust me on this – sucks! Anyone who has travelled around Europe and Finmere will have noticed that most people in the various countires across the continent can speak at least a small amount of English; enough to be able to answer any simple questions you might have. In Moscow, this is not the case. It’s predominantly the younger generation of people in Moscow that speak English, but for everyday things such as shopping for food, asking for directions or, in some cases, trying to explain why you don’t have your passport with you paintballing in Finmere is a far cry away.
