Paintball Hints and Tactics Article!

Here’s how to read the field in Huddersfield and make the most of it. Experience is a great filter for knowing what information is important and what isn’t. But there’s also what I call practical knowledge, for lack of a batter expression. Practical knowledge is just that: Stuff you know that helps you make sense of all the information and offers guidelines in how to use the information you’re accumulating. When we first started playing paintball some of the players weren’t making moves they should have been making in Huddersfield. The problem was they didn’t know if they could make those moves safely so they erred on the side of caution. We handled it two way; we ran specific drills to demonstrate what could and couldn’t be done and I told them that if no one has paint in the air when you move from bunker A to bunker B you wont get shot – so just do it. That’s practical knowledge learnt in Huddersfield. In paintball a great way to make up for lack of experience is to focus on your job and how best to execute your part of the game plan. In my experience there’s two kinds of players who struggle when it comes to handling information. One kind is simply unaware of too many things going on around them and the other kind is so aware of all the information it can be disabling. Focusing on your role solves a lot of the problems that arise for both kinds of players to make them shoot more paintballs in Huddersfield. For both types it means they mostly only need to be aware of a limited amount of information and as they focus on executing their part of the game plan it provides a framework for making decisions. The Process goes from ‘should I do this or that?’ to ‘in order to do my job I need to: support the snake, contain movement to the corners, cut off a lane’ and so on that’s how we win Paintball.
