Here’s the story of one of the biggest Manchester success stories ever, the LTZ team and how they were coached. Bart Monroe banned his LTZ team from internet paintball forums as well as press interviews. None of the players are allowed to post or even peruse them. Bart relises that he cannot control everything that his players do, but if anyone posts he will know about it. “They are not going to be able to shake off the negative feedback on those websites,” he explains. “The minute they read it, the anger is going to fester inside them and they are going to think about it all day. It’s going to get into their heads before they even play. I also monitor every email that comes into the website. I keep out all the negative email and only allow them to see the positive ones. I want to keep everything positive, focused, and clear headed. I don’t want them to get wrapped up in the drama of paintballing or the hype. I want them to come and play Paintball, then go home to a normal life. But my kids keep their heads on straight and you should in Manchester too. They know that someone is always watching them and I am the last person they want to find out about anything bad. But what usually happens is some kind of suspension. We had an incident last year where one of the players who was driving the van was goofing off and really scared some of the other Manchester team members. Then I got a call from a parent concerning the issue, so the paintballer was suspended. I try to get all the facts first and then discipline them accordingly.”
