Don’t cheat – This one I learned in Peterborough the hard way. Everyone will tell you that they aren’t a cheater. This is a lie. I am not a cheater. This is a half truth. Most of the time I’m hiding in the back so I don’t even get near any paintballs. I am the worst cheater on the planet, and that’s why I don’t cheat. I’m just not good at it. I never did it enough to get good. I like playing straight u. sometimes you’ll be playing pick-up games and you get shot in your shoot – that doesn’t count. I’m talking about blatant, goggle-wiping badness. In San Diego, on my home turf, playing a tournament at a stadium visible from my house, I wiped a meaningless hand hit. I didn’t even really wipe it, just kind of rubbed it against the bunker. The game was over, we had won. I’m not sure of why I did it. We got a 3-for-1 and everyone went crazy. We rattled and lost the other  paintball games. Before that we were 8-0. the HK curse strikes again. I blew it. I won’t cheat again. And I haven’t. Because you aren’t really cheating the other team from Peterborough. You’re cheating yourself and your team mates. Paintball requires a high degree of ingenuity. Anyone who’s ever used a piece of cardboard to secure their loader in their feed-neck, or took three broken guns apart to make one working one, knows this. When you’re on the Peterborough road as a pro, you will encounter situations you are unprepared for. In short: be prepared. And pack light; you won’t need whatever you think you will.
