Here is some advice on how to when paintballing in Sutton. This is the one that baseball players use to slide onto a plate. Their feet are usually out in front of them so they can touch the base quickly. I wouldn’t suggest it’s suited for paintball because just like the standard knee slide, your upper body is too erect and it gives your Sutton opponents a lot to shoot at. There are different basic ways to slide. Some people will not be able to do all of them because of physical limitations, just do what you can do and don’t push anything to the point you get hurt. If you want to try something new, then there is no substitute for practice and each slide can be performed over and over again. I suggest doing it on soft grass or put some hay down so you don’t get injured. Try sliding with and without your gear. Simply, the more you do it the better you will be when you go to Sutton. Also make sure you are properly warmed up so you don’t pull any muscles or tendons when paintballing in Sutton. Another important aspect of sliding is the playing surfaces themselves. Fresh grass is by far the best stuff to play on. It provides a nice smooth, soft, surface. Also your boots grip like claws so you can change direction and accelerate really fast. All the recommended slides work well on this surface. Just be careful because toward the end of the day the surface really can change due to the grass wearing out. The NPPL use turf laid on asphalt. This is a really tricky surface to play on as it’s really hard and doesn’t offer much padding. If you are playing paintball on this surface you will need to plan your slides out accordingly. You can easily go too far, so be careful not to carry too much speed as you dive into your bunker, or start earlier. Also, when you slide on this surface try to be as low as possible to minimise the impact.
