If your trying to get to the Swindon centre and are being locked down and no one can help you out its up to you to control him. But sometimes he can still suck back just far enough that he has more then enough of a lane to destroy you with paintballs as you bump up. This presents a problem: at close range running and shooting paintballs might not work out so well, or at least you will both end up shooting each other. That’s when the “slingshot” comes into effect. It is a great way to get into those tough Swindon 50 yard line bunkers. So from your spot before the 50 you control the lockdown bad guy as best you can, but remembering he still has a big lane in which to cut you down. That’s when you slingshot a Swindon team mate from a back spot past you and into the 50. The thinking is that the lockdown player will not be expecting it and won’t be prepared to stop it. Even if he does see it, the slingshot Swindon player has had more space to get himself up to full speed and slide easily through the lane. If you can’t get help, bump yourself up, or slingshot into the spot – more drastic measures need to be taken to get into that key Swindon zone. And the most extreme move is to go and run up to that bad guy, stick your barrel in his ear and let him hear the ocean. That way, there is nobody locking down the lane with paintballs and you can walk on your hands into the spot unchallenged. But your team mates going to say hi to the lockdown player doesn’t have to kill the guy to do his job. If he can get close enough to make a big enough commotion by slinging paintballs, the lockdown guy will usually want to look around and see what is going on, thus giving you the window you need to be able to jump through the lane and make the 50 yard line bunker safely.
